Fallout 3 Screenshots, We Likey!

It’s a huge title, even if it has managed to send Fallout-series fans into a series of mini-strokes.

At the recent Ubidays, Bethesda debuted a few new screenshots to tantalize those of us who aren’t pissed off that Fallout 3 will be so different from Fallout 1 and 2.

And if you really are that riled, maybe they might soothe your fury at Bethesda, which purchased the IP from the mostly defunct Interplay back in 2007 and completely altered the Fallout game to make it less like Fallout and more like Oblivion.

More and bigger screenshots after the jump…

We saw a Fallout 3 demo at E3 2007, and even then we immediately recognized the huge potential. We lost a lot of hours to Oblivion and having a completely different universe paired with the same gameplay (though maybe not the same voice actors!) doesn’t make us hate the idea, that’s for sure.

But the question remained whether the open-world, multi-path gameplay we loved could be paired up with a similarly absorbing world.

While not exactly answering that question, these latest screenshots show a lot of potential. I get a “Bioshockesque” feel from them.

Most notable of the three, however, is the combat shot. Being able to blow the limbs off your foes is one big, “we-likey” feature.

Release date still set for “Fall 2008.”

What do you think?

Yes, I want it too. I only played Fallout and never finished it. However, this looks great and I will be putting down money to reserve a special edition.
