14 Jul 2008Hear that? It’s the sound of millions of Final Fantasy (ie: Sony) fanbois crying.
Vaguely similar to hell freezing over.
It surprised the hell out of us when, as the last guest speaker to the Microsoft E3 Briefing that Yoichi Wata took the stage. I mean, this is the brains behind Square Enix. This is a hardcore Sony man.
And yeah, I totally bought the whole “Here’s three games we’re making for the Xbox but they’re not Final Fantasy.” I bought that hook, line and sinker.
But when Wata walked back on the stage to add one small announcement he forgot to mention, my brain kinda froze.
Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the Xbox. That’s enough to make your head spin. But not only that, it will come to the Xbox on the day it releases for the PS3! Not a delayed release to appease the Sony master. It’s going to release as a dual-platform game.
This is by far the biggest bombshell of the show so far (which technically hasn’t even started). This blindsided a lot of us.
And probably Sony, too.

But But But… It’s still exclusive to us in Japan! You wait until you see what we have from Sony. It will blow your mind and stuff. (in your best Hawkes Fanboi voice)
