You’d think after 55 episodes we’d be past the “technical difficulties.”
But this week a gremlin pops into Edie’s headset and stays for the entire show. Unfortunately, Edie didn’t notice the gremlin until the editing process. So be warned: There’s a lot of great chat and info on this episode, but you’ll have to suffer through a bunch of cli
This episode also features a guest visit from Engineer Kev, who shows off his new voice. Or what’s left of it.
When not popping and clicking, Edie and co-host Cooper Hawkes discuss:
Opening and closing music by Heliosphere, one half of which is our very own Andrew Davies. Check out new album, H8 (not sure if that’s pronounced “H-eight” or “Hate”) at .
, and we now officially don’t trust a damn thing it has to say.
Wii Music isn’t living up to sales expectations because . How do you say “Waambulance” in Japanese?
Todd Howard of Bethesda says .
? Question is, should we be asking ourselves that, too?
. Does it bother you that Metacritic seems to be doing nothing about it?
Random stuff: Farcry2 gets a patch, Halo: ODST will have 24 maps, Fallout 3′s DLC delayed, Burnout Paradise gets all cops ‘n’ robbers. Square Enix’s stock is in the tank.
Email, thank yous, and more.

Metacritic is only damaging itself by choosing not to do anything about it, and since there’s a demo out, anybody who decides based on a User Rating at Metacritic and not on their own experience is a buttdart.
I never care about user ratings anyway. Comments from people who I know and who have played games, or from reasonable, rational reviewers yes, but that’s it.
Edie, I am sorry but you need to check yourself on the whole Metacritic rant and equating it to bum fights. I am sorry you are wrong. Fanboys are just idiot kids and gamers who love to throw out slanderous words and sites that fuel that are catering to an audience that enjoys it. The people who put on Bum fights are people who are taking advantage of homeless and most likely mentally handicapped individuals who can’t understand why they shouldn’t take money to fight. They don’t understand they can ACTUALLY harm themselves. Oh and Gamers don’t care about USER reivews…they care about actual Gaming sites reviews done professionally. Not Johnny Jerk off fanboys review.

Kevin sounds like Christian Bale in The Dark Knight, but as time went on, he did sound like Clint Eastwood.
The example wasn’t the best, but I am gonna have to side with Edie on this one. I also wanted to wish Engineer Kev the best. I hope you feel better soon. Your voice is kick ass.
Edie….Alone in The Dark a first itteration IP? Were you drinking…..alot? It kinda ruined your whole point about the controller issues.
And why the hell do you insist on comparing Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead on the sole fact that both games contain zombies. The pacing of the two games are vastly different, one is an FPS and the other a more traditional third person survival horror. Left 4 Dead feels like any other FPS switching out the generic mobs with a mind numbingly few variations of mobs. Yeah thats right….I hate Left 4 Dead….doesn`t in any way mean that I love Resi 5, but comparing the two is too far fetched and seems like you just wanting to bring up Left 4 Dead as often as humanly possible…
And yeah….Hawkes is completely right….you were pretty bloody annoying for trying to make a big deal out of it…..Its because of people like you Edie that this problem wont go away anytime soon, you make it a big deal….Ignore it and it will eventually get better…or not…who fucking cares…its only user ratings….the main focus is still and always have been the critics ratings… Please don`t give this topic any more airtime. It reaaaaally is a non-issue….Let it go.
At first I was thinking Old Snake, but it’s definitely Clint Eastwood! I had about fallen out of my seat. Metacritic is a joke! I completely agree with Hawkes, this is not even worth discussing. Honestly, I go to metacritic maybe once a year just to get a good laugh.
@HeartbreakRidge: Yeah that is a more fair comparison…on the topic of RE5, when I played Dead Space I realized that just doing a high def RE4 in a new setting really wouldnt be enough. So since Dead Space I havent had all that high expectations for RE5.
Survival horror games (Silent Hill, Resident Evil etc.) are supposed to be a little sluggish in the controls, its part of the atmosphere, it induces the claustrophobia of walking into a small room unknowing if there is something else there. Its a slowpaced experience. Left 4 Dead is a fast paced experience, vastly different things.
And the whole metacritic thing, well.. I do agree mostly with Hawkes that it’s a non issue and no one cares about the user reviews for games.
I can see where you’re coming from, Edie, with the example for books/Amazon, but let’s face it, how many places review books these days? I mean a game gets tons of print/online reviews, as do films, but books just don’t making the user reviews a tad more important [even though they're mostly screwed, too].
Metacritic should just remove the user reviews completely, but then again how would they get free publicity?

That example wasn’t so good Edie, you did try though. A fanboy fight is truly a tard fight..
ahh I can see one now just like the South Park episode of the Cripple Fight

From listening to people discuss games, I’d say don’t compare L4D and R5, a fairer comparison would be Dead Space and R5.

Prices:
Game prices are not that bad. Considering that N64 games were well over that cost (up to $80).
Then you had Neo Geos going for $199 per GAME.
