I loved the comedy sketch placed conspicuously before the Netflix message. Good stuff!

This 3 way was everything that i hoped for and more. I wanted hawks and Tim on the same show since I first heard the Humpdate back in December. I also love that they are both geek/nerds(whatever word you guys want to use). Seriously, my favorite podcast just got a hell of a lot better in my eyes. Keep up the good work and game on.

Just wanted to add, the Core Design/Tomb Raider thing WAS NOT Core’s fault, infact it was mostly Eidos who is to blame!

After the first few Tomb Raiders became hits Eidos saw a viable franchise and it became annualized, it doesn’t take a genius to realize giving developers a annualized franchise will result in a loss of quality. We witnessed this loss from TR 3-5 in comparison to the first two.

When it came to Angel of Darkness the game was supposed to be epic, it was going to take the franchise in a new direction and set a darker tone, unfortunately Eidos decided shipping a beta would be a good idea! It was also the first game in a long time that would not be released the year after another Tomb Raider game so it definitely had potential, a shame Eidos forced Core to rush the game.

Unfortunately for Core Design, Eidos decided to set the future of the company that made them on a shitty ass puzzle game for the PSP. :(

Anyways great show, definitely loving the new format.

Now that… That was an AWESOME Episode.

Ya know, Id like to hop on the show, sit with Tim, and talk about some of the Classics that are out there. I bet ya we could ramble on for quite a while when talking about the Golden Ages of Gaming.

We have lost a LOT with the implosion of Aliens: Colonial Marines. Let me liberally quote from the OXM preview in the August ’08 issue.

“Playing as a squad of four colonial marines, each with a unique personality and class, you’ve been ordered to investigate the USS Sulaco…. Since Aliens is our closest influence, we’ve strived for a level of authenticity to the films [says the game's producer at Gearbox]. We’ve hired Syd Mead [designer of the Sulaco] to go back and create new concepts based on artwork that he made over 20 years ago – just so we can see what his vision was for the other areas of the Sulaco.”

“Of course, gameplay will focus on shooting Aliens and leading a squad… Gearbox’s aim is to re-create that nail-biting Aliens experience with a balance of action, suspense and horror that isn’t strictly about running down a corridor, shooting, and yelling “GAME OVER, MAN! GAME OVER!”

“In addition to competitive multiplayer modes (…), Colonial Marines will boast [drop in/drop out] coop support allowing up to four buddies to play through the campaign together.”

I’m betting the AvP movies have the beancounters seeing dollar signs, so bet on the new AvP game to be a pretty and shallow, sketchy story, twitch fest shooter with buckets of gore, which is very little like what Gearbox was working on. So, fuck Sega and the horse they rode in on.

Psi Ops was awesome! Such a brilliant game!

Re Star Trek: Actually I don’t care much about the actual Star Trek characters, just the universe. Kinda like how I don’t mind and prefer SWTOR being set prior to KotOR.

And Hawkes, your talking about KotOR and how you became BioWare’s bitch seems so familiar! I love that game and the story in that.

Not too convinced on the new format though, don’t think it’ll work for me, but let’s see on the next episodes..
