You guys do a great job. I think I disagree on your guys definition of hardcore gamers. I think Tim is more in the retro gamer category. Hardcore gamers are usually bigger a-holes and spend about 2 or 3 hrs a night on gaming. They are also the ones that take shit way to personally while they are playing online. I know some hardcore gamers and it is their life. Of course categories are kinda stupid anyway because there is always a exception to a label.

I thought this might interest you, regarding transfering UMD games to the PSP Go. It seems that Sony are working on a method to do this. Here is the link.

As much as you want to escape from stereotypes u cant, Unfortunately nowadays i think there is different type of hardcore. Personally i think a hardcore is someone devoted to a specific company, or Dev, or game series. Also sometimes they can be in terms of tim, and myself now we collect an play some of the more unique titles even the Blockbuster were devoted to the idea of a game being a gaming experience not a piece of repetitive trash like halo. The A Holes arent hardcore there just fucking pricks that think there big, in no terms would they or should they be classified as gamers cause there shameful to those of us that actually are decent

Mr. D… how drunk were you when you wrote that? ;-)

Honestly, I’m done with the label nonsense. I’ve been gaming my whole life. I spend my time playing, reading about, writing about, taking photos of, discussing, playing some more, collecting, and generally doing nothing but video game related things.

But according to many people, I’m not ‘hard core’.

Meh. I take comfort in the fact that I’ll still be gaming long after they’ve all moved on to other things.

Ok, I have to call you on your take on Sony. Your microsoft bias shines a little too bright so I have play devil’s….errr Sony’s advocate.

As far as PSP flopping. 20million units already sold? Far from a flop. Yea, it won’t compete with the DS but those are some decent numbers. The PSP Go will sell for one reason: The fucking thing is finally actually portable! The price sucks but if you compare it to an ipod, its actually not bad. It has wifi, bluetooth, 16gb internal mem, expandable memory slot, and oh yea, its a powerful gaming platform.

UMDs. Sony will have a solution in place at launch to convert UMDs to digital. As far preorders, Amazon is saying they are up 500%.

On to the conference: Nothing shown? Are you fucking blind?

- God of War 3.

- AC2 will have exclusive content that will be unlocked via the PSP version of the game. Not a big deal.

- Uncharted 2. Nuff said. Nothing compares. Not even your beloved Mass Effect.

- Last Guardian.

- Agent (nothing shown but again you downplay another exclusive).

- Home. Yea it sucks. But its there and its making money.

- ModNation Racers. It’s Little Big Planet for racing. You have to admit watching that dude create a track on stage in less than 5 min was impressive. Yea it won’t replace Mario Kart but it will be BETTER. Do I really need to explain why?

- FF13. Did you see the demo they showed? It blew away what MS showed. I guess Microsoft didn’t want to have to swap DVDs?. 8)

- FF14. Again, the sound of crickets emanates from Gamehounds…

- MAG. Jury is still out. But you “play it safe” by joining the MS legions by saying “PSN network issues”. Network issues won’t be the problem. 256 players will be the problem. Can you say lag-free clusterfuck?

- PSN. Its still free. You criticize network issues. You don’t play your PS3s!!!! How the fuck can you dredge up network issues from 2007 now? Play KZ2, Uncharted2 beta,COD4, EVEN SOCOM! The network issues are now a non-issue.

Motion Control -

Sony and MS are trying to steal market share with throw away tech. NATAL is a promising but YEARS away. Milo was completely staged (dude was controlling Milo behind the scenes with a controller). Can you actually see yourself playing Burnout with no controller? Hell no. Sony’s motion control? Also throw away tech. The throwing of ninja stars is cool but I don’t see myself using it.

You talk shit about Sony showing AC2. Microsoft opened their show with Rock Band Beatles. LOL. I was waiting for “available first on 360″. Uh….no.

You all downplay Uncharted 2, an all new Resident Evil on PSP, a full on Metal Gear sequel on PSP. You don’t even mention FF14 coming exclusive to PS3.

You continually write the PS3 off as a “flop” but with their upcoming lineup and the impending $100 price cut in Sept/Oct, crow will be on your Thanksgiving menus.

Who won?

The masses say Microsoft won. Why? NATAL, instantON, Facebook and Twitter. They sure and hell didn’t win for their games. Alan Wake and Forza looked amazing. That’s it. Metal Gear: Rising? Shadow Complex? Sam Fisher? A big MEH.

For pure gamers, Sony won. For casual child molester sims and rehashed IPs (Halo), Microsoft won.

Ok, Sony fanboy rant /off.

Whatever. The PSP hasn’t sold as many units as even the iPod Touch, and it’s been out for, what, 4 years? Good grief.

Anyway, go be a pure gamer (and by that, I’ll assume you mean you’re a virgin).

Oh, when did we say the PS3 is a flop in this episode?

I think the Go will sell fine because they solve the reason my PSP stays home: portability. I’m not comparing sales vs. the ipod touch. The PSP will never touch it. I’m comparing feature set and price point. That’s all.

Sony had better content, Microsoft has a better presentation. Sony had the game of show (Uncharted 2), best graphics (God of War 3), more exclusives and yet Microsoft is declared winner because of NATAL?

And yes, I’m pure as the driven snow. Snow that’s been driven over 42 winters. That “curmudgeonly” enough for ya? =)

No, nothing can ever be curmudgeonly enough. That’s part of being a curmudgeon; nothing is ever enough.

I see where you’re coming from now; you’re just mad at the mainstream press in general, and chose here to vent. Because I really don’t remember saying MS “won the show”. I do remember saying Nintendo interested me the most though. You may have me confused with my regular GameHounds co-hosts. :-)
