No, you didn’t. We did. Want to find out what happened to Episode 106? Well, you’ll just have to listen to this week’s show. In addition to Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers discussing what happens when you pick the wrong directory for file clean-up, the awesome duo discuss:
Hawkes interviews Dark Energy Digital about their upcoming XBLA game, Hydrophobia!
Official Xbox Magazine reveals that. Oh, this is gonna be goooood.
Film critic (and might we add, general asshat) Roger Ebert says that . Sit and spin, ugly, fatty retard (’cause, see, those are okay to make fun of).
No Doubt’s lawsuit against Activision gets an all-systems-go from the Los Angeles Superior Court. Gwen really is a badass.
Random stuff, reviews of iPhone’s Supermarket Manager and the Dr. Horrible comic, general impressions of Xbox Live’s Game Room, and the usual dose of semi-drunken, birthday weirdness.
I can’t even get past the show description on this one.
“Sit and spin, cancer chicken”
That’s a whole new low that I didn’t think you guys were capable of. Insightful adult views must now mean that we pick on a guy over his illness because he disagrees with you over a statement on games.
Nigel, you don’t have to put up with this shit! Every patriotic Englishman/woman would recognise your accent instantly. In this great nation of ours there are many distinct accents and dialects, and yours hails unmistakably from the small village of Blewbury (like the fruit, only spelt differently) within the shire of Oxford.
In this quaint little corner of rural England, the villagers know young Nigel well. He’s often seen skipping through the hills with his fiery red hair flowing behind him, exploring the ancient ruins of Blewbury’s iron age fort and rolling down the beautiful white slopes of the age old chalk pits.
At night Nigel frequents the Red Lion public house to indulge in consumption of his favourite ale, while engaging his fellow man in a beautiful sing song along around the fire.
Dr Horrible Comic Sounds cool!. Is it an app within itself that you can read multiple comics or just the Dr Comic?
Glad to see Hydrophobia didn’t drip through the cracks!!! – games have needed a none smoke&mirrors approach to water!. Geek-gasm! haha!
Loving the XBLA titles available in 2010.
I’m hoping the Confirm Deadpool for Marvel vs Capcom!!
The debate over can games can be considered art is going to go on for sometime. Games as a medium are still in their infancy. Every popular medium has to go through this. Comics, Films, Music, Books and in some cases even art itself. It’s a shame that some people cant see games for what is put into them. Epic story lines and characters that have enough weight to them that they have been made into books and films. Music that have their own released OST’s. Technology that has been developed for games and then used to educate and inform. There are both sides to this coin – just like any topic. But one day I know they will stand proud, side by side with the ‘Accepted’ art-forms of today.
Ah yes my mistake, I’m getting my Nigel’s mixed up… there are so many of them here. Well I’m glad they’re treating you well my friend… I thought you did a thoroughly splendid job on the show and added some much needed sophistication to the proceedings.
I have to agree with Tim. Opinions be damned, The “Cancer Chicken” comment is classless, even for a show that goes out of it’s way to be unfiltered and non-PC. Especially when he has not done anything to harm you or the videogame industry as a whole.
I am really tired of this debate because it is really pointless. I wish people would stop trying to overcomplicate things and stop trying to find validation from people who’s opinions ultimately don’t matter.
Movies are movies, not novels, not art. Books aren’t movies, they are books. Videogames are not movies, books, or art. They are Videogames plain in simple. I love videogames and can give two shits if some movie critic, or sportscaster, or politician thinks their art or not. Hell a lot of you would give me shit for loving NCAA Football and NBA2k and buying them every year eventhough they are videogames. You call them roster updates and say im an idiot for buying them every year. I will defend them but ultimately I can give a shit what you think. Gamers and the “journalists” who defend games them as art, are largely hypocrites who are quick to dismiss large segments of the hobby they supposedly love so much.

Ok, a little late on the ball here so let me be brief:
1. Good interview. Hadn’t paid close attention so I didn’t know this game was out there. Now I’ll give it a look.
2. Activision v Infinity Ward. What comes around goes around. ’nuff said.
3. Nice to hear a new voice but pick up the pace.
4. Are games art? Are movies art? Are paintings and sculpture art? Is music art? In brief, does it move you? Does it make a connection with you emotionally?
Kick A** and Lawrence of Arabia are both movies but only one of them would be considered art, generally.
Your child’s stick figure art on the refrigerator mean more to you than it does to anyone else.
What you take from a game like BioShock or Mass Effect, you aren’t going to take from Modern Warefare 2 or Tony Hawk.
Art is highly subjective. You may love something a critic hates and vice-versa. Critics are a starting point, a quick blurb about what may or may not be of interest and some of the behind the camera technicalities. But never let them be a substitute for your own tastes and interests. Only you know what you like.
When the Game Hounds zamboni game is released…well…that’ll be a piece of work.

Thank you Dark Energy, but the Gamehounds crew is not as bad as they seem on the show.
Now, from what I remember, I was left in a bonnet as a baby, and raised by wolves at Stonehenge.
I was like Tarzan, except I had no Jane. Only wolves.
I had fun being on the GameHounds. Maybe I’ll make another “Guest” appearance sometime soon.

With all respect, Cmdr Tim, I groan more when a podcast called Game HOUNDS (emphasis mine) names an episode after hydrophobia aka rabies.

Huhwhaa?? Hydrophobia is the fear of water. It’s a *symptom* of rabies, but it’s also a symptom of not being able to swim.
My favorite: Trixodecophobia… the fear of the number 13.
