11 Jun 2011One of the many questions about the PS Vita — and perhaps one of the largest — has been the memory-storage medium.
You see, Sony has said there’s two slots on the handheld, and it has confirmed it would be for “Flash based” cards, but it was not forthcoming with what exactly those cards would be.
Leave it to NeoGAF. Those little minxes have no problem finding this stuff.
Behold! What one forum . Indeed, looking rather Flash based and being displayed in five flavors: 4GB, 8 GB, 18 GB, and 32 GB.
More than enough for a few game saves.
The other important questions: How much will these little darlings cost, and how much will AT&T charge for its massively fast and wide-ranging 3G coverage?

I assume that these memory cards will be proprietary tech owned by Sony, then? It makes sense given their history of trying to own media types and their vagueness about the storage being flash-based. They look like SDHC cards without the write lock on the side, but it’s hard to tell from the way the picture is vertically stretched.

Scuigi, go ahead and click on the top picture or check the link to NeoGAF. I’ve also resized the photo to get the perspective right.
What do you think?

Picture looks great now.
Was any mention given as to how big Vita games would be? I can’t imagine Uncharted or several of the other titles Sony announced having a small footprint, which means you’d need to either pay for the high-end card or swap out a bunch of smaller cards depending on what you want to play.
For comparison, dual-layer UMDs hold up to 1.8 GB of data, according to wikipedia.
