Valve Video Contest To Help Valve Clean Out the Closets

Where does all that leftover swag for games go?

Well, if you’re at Valve, and that swag is for Portal 2, you hold a video-making contest, throw in a signed guitar from The National, and give it all away.

The competition, which runs from now until July 15, calls for aspiring directors to put together a video — though not necessarily a music video — using the The National song “Exile, Vilify” from Portal 2. According to the contest’s website, you may use game assets and images of The National without getting the copyright police on your case.

Then post the video to the contest’s website and hope.

Winner of the competition will win a big, fat swag “ultimate box of swag” from Portal 2 and the Valve offices, including t-shirts, posters, and “other stuff we’ll be grabbing off co-workers’ desks,” as well as an Eastwood guitar signed by The National.

If you want to see what the competition has already posted, you can also see that at the contest website at thinkwithportals.com.

If you need a little inspiration, enjoy this “Exile, Vilify”–inspired Portal 2 trailer.
