GameHounds 227: Dark Soles

In: Podcasts by Edie Sellers

This episode was supposed to see the light of day on Sunday.

But then Comcast decided to “upgrade” our Internet service by essentially breaking it. We’ve had it up, but it’s been wonky.

Rather than taking a chance the show would be corrupted, we held off. Yes, that means you waited a little longer, but at least you won’t get halfway through and find out that it’s all borked n’ stuff.

Goalie chose some unfortunate reliability examples talking about always on requirement. They tended to prove the opposite point of view.

Look at the fridge. At some moment, we accepted the fridge in America and stopped building cellars in our houses. The choice was similar: cellar is a costly but reliable way to make you milk last during hot summer. Fringe is cheaper and more convenient, but if the electricity fails, your milk is gone.

The choice was more difficult then as power interruptions were more common. Nowadays, I am as seldom without power as we are without Internet.
