GameHounds 228: Full Steam Ahead

In: Podcasts by Edie Sellers

22 Jul 2013

There’s this time during the summer that it really doesn’t matter what news is going on. It’s the Steam Summer Sale. And all things important stop.

Including your ability to control your spending.

All three hosts — Edie Sellers, Nick Dinicola, and Holy Goalie — are all deeply under the spell of Steam. Rather than bother with news items, because let’s face it, not much was happening at the time, they dive into what they’ve been buying on Steam and why.

Games include Surgeon Simulator 2013, Don’t Starve, Command and Conquer, Splinter Cell, Grand Theft Auto, War of the Roses, Chivalry, Guns of Icarus Online, Men of War, Strike Suit Zero, Lunar Flight, Galaxy on Fire 2, Tiny Troopers, World in Conflict, Dawn of War 2, Warhammer, Star Wars: Empire at War, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Sanctum 2, Rogue Legacy, Half Life 2, Sleeping Dogs, Oregon Trail Director’s Cut, Carriers of Command, Infestation: Survivor Stories, Defiance, Euro Truck Simulator, Dust: An Elesian Tale, Sim City, Alan Wake, Bastion, Deadlight, Dark Souls, Mark of the Ninja, Skyrim, Steam Trading Cards.

And don’t forget, on Wednesday, July 25 (like, two days from now), We’ll be having our Christmas in July episode, where we give away a mega-ton of games on both our regular show and the Happy Endings show.

So set your calendars.

Enjoy.

GameHounds 227: Dark Soles

In: Podcasts by Edie Sellers

17 Jul 2013

This episode was supposed to see the light of day on Sunday.

But then Comcast decided to “upgrade” our Internet service by essentially breaking it. We’ve had it up, but it’s been wonky.

Rather than taking a chance the show would be corrupted, we held off. Yes, that means you waited a little longer, but at least you won’t get halfway through and find out that it’s all borked n’ stuff.

Enjoy.

Love to write a long explanation of the topics and stuff but going out of town today. In, like, five minutes.

BE ADVISED: We will have no show next week, as… well… I’m out of town.

Oh god, the car is pulling out of the driveway. Gotta go. WAIT FOR MEEEE!!

Enjoy.

Deepest apologies from the GameHounds staff. We’re a few days late posting this show, but on the plus side, you’ve had a few extra days to enjoy the GameHounds: Happy Endings shows.

This episode, recorded just a few short hours before Microsoft backtracked on many of its features, may seem a bit dated. But it was dated two hours after it was recorded.

The reviews and commentary on other news, however, aren’t dated. What do we review and commentate? Lemme tell ya:

As E3 was underway, the GameHounds staff got their coffee on and bellied up to the microphone to review what they’d seen after Microsoft and Sony started their rumble in Los Angeles.

Holy Goalie, Nick Dinicola, and Edie Sellers try to keep their eyes open after nearly 14 hours straight of watching E3 reveals and podcasting on Spreaker each of the presentations. You have checked those out, haven’t you?

Topics include:
