Review: Brink

In: Reviews by Nick "Alsop Live" Dinicola

13 Jun 2011

Brink is more disappointing than bad, though it’s also bad, but it’s more disappointing because the ideas it presents are really intriguing. Sadly, nothing works as it should. The promise of a highly customizable team-based parkour shooter is undone by bad level design, poor team balancing, a lack of content, and more.

Review: Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes HD

In: Reviews by Leah "WhiteGodiva" Haydu

22 May 2011

Strategy games and I don’t get along. We never have. I’ve tried many times to get into the genre, in large part because the marketing for these titles often tries to trick me into thinking it’s something I really want to play. Featuring large-eyed, anime-inspired characters peering enthusiastically from the cover art of a game [...]

Games You Probably Didn’t Play: Okamiden

In: Reviews by Leah "WhiteGodiva" Haydu

11 May 2011

I play some pretty obscure games. I’m not saying that in a hipster, you’ve-probably-never-heard-of-them kind of way, but rather as a method of describing my style of choice. A lot of what I gravitate toward tends to be sort of strange, in an often distinctly Japanese way. These types of games aren’t ones I necessarily [...]

Review: Crysis 2

In: Reviews by Nick "Alsop Live" Dinicola

4 Apr 2011

Crysis was a graphical benchmark, a game to which all others were compared. No PC was truly hardcore unless it could run Crysis. Now that the Xbox 360 and PS3 can run Crysis 2, there has been doubt whether this sequel would be as graphically intense. Rest assured, the game looks fantastic, but those high [...]

Review: MicroBot

In: Reviews by Chris "FighterAce100" Salazar

26 Feb 2011

Have you heard of MicroBot? I hadn’t until I randomly started searching through Xbox Live Arcade titles one night and I think I may have found a diamond in the rough. This game has not had big advertising or much credit tossed its way, good or bad, but it’s a great, addictive little shoot-em-up game [...]

Review: Breach

In: Reviews by Chris "FighterAce100" Salazar

14 Feb 2011

One of my most anticipated games to be released — one that I have waited patiently for — was Breach. Since I first heard of it, I was ready for team-based combat and destructible environments just like Battlefield. I was ready to dominate in some amazing maps and meet some great people. What I got [...]

Review: Dead Space 2

In: Reviews by Nick "Alsop Live" Dinicola

12 Feb 2011

Dead Space is the definitive action-horror franchise of this generation, and that’s a tricky balance to maintain. Popular opinion states that horror works best when you’re ill-equipped to take on the forces against you, so any action would take away from the horror. Dead Space 2 (as well as the first one) proves popular opinion [...]

Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns

In: Reviews by Anthony McGill

3 Jan 2011

If you, like myself, grew up with and thoroughly enjoyed the Donkey Kong Country games for the SNES, then the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii caused you to become just a little misty-eyed. The story goes like this: A group of evil Tikis known as the Tiki Tak Tribe have hypnotized [...]
